Organizations and Associations
This is just a motley list of websites for various non-profit equestrian organizations and associations that I think are interesting. I obviously can't list all such sites here; this is just a list of ones that I find especially interesting. Your tastes may vary.
- Foxhunting Organizations
- A list of websites for hunt clubs and related organizations.
- United States Equestrian Team
- Information about the team and riders. Includes short biographies of the Olympics short-list members.
- United States Eventing Association
- Info about the USCTA and 3-day eventing. Membership info, news articles, event results, etc.
- USEA Area 8
- Information about eventing in USEA Area 8, the heartland of America and the heart of eventing (Indiana, Kentucky, Michigan, Ohio, West Virginia and Western Pennsylvania),.
- Equestrian Land Conservation Resource
- ELCR is a national voice for a united equestrian land conservation movement, which promotes the
protection of open land and provides information to concerned individuals who wish to maintain access to land for riding and driving. As open land is being lost to urban sprawl in many parts of the country, this organization and its goals should be supported by all those interested in horses or equestrian activities.
- Kentucky Horse Council
- "A group of diverse but united individuals and organizations, committed to active representation and leadership of persons interested in the horse, its activities and its environment ..." Two primary functions are to ensure that no legislation which would prove detrimental to the horse industry is enacted and to work on a riding trails program.
- Equine Rescue Network
- A nonprofit organization incorporated to prevent the abuse of equines through education and by supporting equine rescue organizatons throughout the United States.
- ReRun - Recycling Racehorses
- Based right here in central Kentucky, with satellite facilities in other states, ReRun provides a second chance for thoroughbreds whose racing career has ended. They evaluate the horses' temperament and physical capabilities and match them with new owners. If you're looking for a horse, or looking for a worthy cause that needs your donation, check them out.
- Hooved Animal Humane Society
- A not-for-profit organization founded in 1971 to promote and ensure the humane treatment of hooved animals through education, investigation, and when necessary, legal intervention.
- U. S. Pony Club
- The Mission of The United States Pony Clubs, Inc. (USPC) is to provide a program for youth which teaches riding, mounted sports, and care of horses and ponies, thereby developing responsibility, moral judgement, leadership and self-confidence.
